The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research & Innovation) at Universiti Malaya (UM) recently undertook an official visit to China State Construction Engineering (Hong Kong) and several advanced industrial facilities in Zhuhai, China. The delegation aimed to strengthen institutional collaboration with China State Construction Engineering (Hong Kong) Limited (CSHK). The three-day engagement culminated in the signing of a five-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), marking the beginning of a long-term partnership between the two esteemed organizations.
The programme began with a courtesy visit to CSHK and a tour of the CSHK Exhibition Hall, where the delegation was introduced to the company’s history, project portfolio, and technological advancements. This was followed by visits to two major infrastructure projects: The New Central Harbourfront and the West New Territories Landfill Extension Project. These visits offered valuable insights into Hong Kong’s progressive approaches to sustainable urban development and infrastructure planning.
Expanding the scope of the engagement, the delegation then travelled to Zhuhai, China, to visit several advanced industrial facilities. These included China Overseas Innovation and Technology (Zhuhai) Company (COIT), Far East Curtain Wall (Zhuhai) Co., Ltd., and China State Construction Hailong Technology Company Limited. Each visit showcased cutting-edge innovations in construction, manufacturing, and green building technology, offering Universiti Malaya a first-hand look at the future of the built environment.

The official MoU signing ceremony, held on 12th June 2025 at the Legislative Council Complex of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR). The MoU was signed by Professor Ir. Dr. Kaharudin Dimyati on behalf of Universiti Malaya and by Mr. CHEN Qimeng, Director & Assistant President and General Manager of the Human Resources Department at CSHK.
