Training Activities
Modul 1
A sharing session titled “Becoming a Scholar: The Road to Success” with invited speaker, Professor Maureen Dollard, was held on 30 June 2025. The session attracted around 30 researchers from the fields of Science, Social Sciences, Arts, and Humanities, who attended to gain inspiration and guidance in building impactful academic careers.
Modul 2
The Workshop for Research Training Module Development was held on 2 July 2025 to develop Modules 1–5 of the Research Empowerment Training Program, involving 15 facilitators and 18 ECRs.
Modul 3
Department of Research Management (JPP) received a visit from two Visiting Professors from The University of Osaka, Japan, from 14 to 18 July 2025. During the visit, a guest lecture session was organized in collaboration with the Faculty of Science and the Faculty of Engineering, featuring knowledge sharing in the fields of science and chemical engineering materials. In addition, a meeting with Professor Ir. Dr. Kaharuddin Dimyati, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation), was held on 18 July 2025 to discuss the potential and direction of strategic collaboration between Universiti Malaya and The University of Osaka.
Modul 4
The Research Induction Programme for Early Career Researchers (ECRs), held on 6 August 2025 with the participation of 141 ECRs, aimed to provide newly appointed academic staff with exposure to UM’s research direction, opportunities, and initiatives, while equipping them to build impactful, holistic, and collaborative research careers. The programme also featured the launch of the Training for High Impact Research, Innovation, Vision and Excellence (THRIVE), officiated by Professor Ir. Dr. Kaharudin bin Dimyati, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research & Innovation).
Modul 5
The THRIVE Research Empowerment Workshop (Modules 1–3) was held on 25–26 August 2025 at Dewan Pameran, Kompleks Pengurusan Penyelidikan & Inovasi (KPPI), with around 80 participants, aiming to help early-career researchers build a strategic, high-impact research foundation through three interactive modules: Research Roadmap, Reframing Research Ideas, and Identifying Research Mission.
