Universiti Malaya (UM) researchers have secured funding under the PJ Seed 7.0 Grant awarded by the Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ), strengthening the University’s role in advancing community‑centred innovation and sustainable development.
Mr. Mohd Fadhli Bin Rahmat Fakri of the UM Sustainable Development Centre (UMSDC) and Mr. Chang Lee Wei of the Universiti Malaya Centre for Civilisational Dialogue (UMCCD) received funding for their project, “From Market to Momentum: Zero‑Waste Revolution at Pasar Seksyen 17, Petaling Jaya.” The initiative aims to drive behavioural change and promote sustainable waste‑reduction practices within local market communities.
In the same grant cycle, Dr. Nur Syazwani Binti Ahmad from the Centre for Foundation Studies in Science was awarded funding for her project, “PJ STEM Discovery Park,” which focuses on strengthening STEM awareness and engagement among the public.
These awards reflect UM’s continued commitment to impactful community engagement and research excellence, reinforcing the University’s contribution to sustainable urban development and public empowerment.
