Kuala Lumpur, June 2026 – Universiti Malaya (UM) continues to strengthen its position as a leading research university with the successful award of a Technology Development (TeD) Fund worth RM2,774,312.20 from the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) to Prof. Dr. Firdaus Hariri, Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry and Professor from the Department of Oro-Maxillofacial Surgical & Medical Sciences.
The funding will support the project entitled “Enhancing the Application of CranioMax Predictive Craniofacial Software for Functional Optimization of Locally Manufactured Comprehensive Craniomaxillofacial Distraction Systems.”
The project aims to enhance the application of the CranioMax predictive craniofacial software to improve the functional performance of locally manufactured craniomaxillofacial distraction systems. By integrating advanced digital technologies with locally developed medical devices, the research is expected to contribute to improved patient care while strengthening Malaysia’s capabilities in high-value medical technology innovation.
This achievement reflects Universiti Malaya’s continued commitment to advancing translational research that addresses healthcare challenges through innovation and technology development. It also supports the national agenda of strengthening local technological capabilities, promoting medical device innovation, and accelerating the commercialization of homegrown research.
